Inner Engineering by SadhguruFirst, I must start by sharing that this has been one of my favorite reads of the year. ‘Inner Engineering’ is divided into two sections. Part One maps “the terrain” offering a series of fundamental life insights. While Part Two offers the reader “a way to navigate the terrain,” providing action-oriented tools. The author, Sadhguru, makes it very clear that while he is providing you with life tools, they will not be useful until you put them into practice (a hammer is useless until you pick it up and use it).

With this philosophy in mind, I will only share a recap of Part One. If you find the below interesting, I encourage you to pick up the book to dive deeper into learning, ultimately to enhance your own practice.

Part one takeaways:
  • It is not enough to “know” or “believe” something. You must practice it. “You can be a good person, but only until you water the garden do the flowers grow.”
  • You must be open to not knowing something in order to then know anything at all. “Not knowing is the only door to knowing”
  • As long as your internal happiness is attached to external experiences, you will never be happy
  • Peace should not be a goal. It is available to us at all times. It is achieved through making an active choice. Choose peace now
  • The quality of your life comes down to your ability to respond, rather than react, to life. It is your responsibility to practice your ability to respond at all times
  • Take responsibility for your life at all times. Responsibility is not about action, rather it’s a way of being. “Reactivity is enslavement, responsibility is freedom”
  • If you find purpose in the pain, even the pain will ultimately serve your existence

Question for you: Is there something you claim to “know” that you have never actually practiced? How can you put this knowledge/belief into practice today?

I’d love to hear your answer, message me on IG to share. (: For a full list of all my 2023 reads & what i’ll be reading next check out my ‘Table of Contents’.

Till next time, be blessed. 💕

With love,
